Megan Marone was a 42-year-old English teacher and poet from Delmar, New York, who vanished

under puzzling circumstances in late March 2022. Seeking a peaceful getaway amid personal stresses,

Megan checked into the historic Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, Massachusetts on March 24, 2022.

She planned a brief retreat in the scenic Berkshires to clear her head.

On March 27, Megan was reportedly last seen by an in-employee that morning, asking for directions

into town. Later that same day, her black 2017

Subaru Impreza was found parked at the trailhead of Janet Longcote Park in nearby Lee,

a small wooded nature preserve not far from the inn. Her car was oddly unlocked and blocking the park's entrance. Something

friends said was very unlike her. Megan herself was nowhere to be found. A massive search effort

ensued. Local police, state troopers with canine units, search and rescue teams, and concerned community members

comb the park's trails and surrounding private property for any trace of the missing teacher.

Early on, investigators found few clues. Megan's phone's last ping didn't come from within the park

itself, but from a rural residential area across the road.

This suggested she may have left the trail or never entered it.

Yet days of searching yielded nothing.

No phone, no belongings, and no Megan.

As spring turned to summer, the mystery deepened and loved ones feared

the worst. Finally, after five agonizing months, there was a heartbreaking break in the case.

In early September 2022, a civilian hiker and Lee discovered partial human remains in a heavily wooded area near Fox Drive,

not far from Longcote Park.

Authorities soon found additional remains and items of clothing scattered nearby.
