Summary

Megan Angelo is the debut author of Followers: A Novel. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, where she helped launch comedy coverage, The Wall Street Journal, Glamour, Elle, and many other publications. This debut novel takes place in two different time periods. One storyline centers around two girls who hatch a scheme to become famous in the year 2015. The other revolves around a futuristic celebrity who spends the majority of her time in front of a camera in the year 2051. Megan and I chatted about the journal entry that sparked her interest in this topic and the research she pulled from her background as a celebrity journalist. Megan discussed her relationship with social media and her interest in how the internet has become something we can't seem to walk away from. I particularly loved Megan's very candid discussion of motherhood and the realities of writing while caring for three kids under five!

And it's all by episode.

0:35.6

So I know I have my own podcast, but even I find myself overwhelmed by how many episodes there are of other podcasts and what I should listen to next.

0:44.1

So Good Pods is still in beta, and they're looking for testers who will give them honest feedback.

0:48.6

So you can go to Good Pods on the App Store or Google Play and check out which podcast your friends are listening to.

0:55.2

And by the way, go on there and show them that you're listening to my podcast. That would

really be awesome. So anyway, Good Pods was founded by a friend I used to work with many moons ago

1:05.4

in, I guess, 1999, which really ages me here. But anyway, JJ Ramberg and I used to work together at a big company called Idealab.

1:14.5

If anybody heard of that, she was with a site called Cooking.com, and I was with Idealab.

1:18.7

And now she started good pods, among many other endeavors that she's done.

1:22.5

And this she's done with her brother, Brad Ramberg, who was also at Idealab with me.

1:26.6

So it all comes full

1:28.0

circle. So anyway, thank you to JJ and Brad and everybody at Good Pods for sponsoring this

1:33.5

episode and for making a new searchable listening tracking thing for podcasts, which is going to be

1:40.3

super helpful in helping people find great podcasts, hopefully like mine. Thank you.
