Drugs mess with your reaction time, your focus and your judgement, all the things you need to drive safely.

So even if you might feel fine, your body and brain say otherwise.

And drugs can stay in your system for longer than you think, sometimes for days

or even weeks after. More and more, especially at this time of year, the police are testing

people at the roadside if they suspect them of driving on drugs. I've seen it myself on the Dock Road

in Liverpool driving to work. It's a simple swipe and if you're positive, it could

be losing your licence for a minimum of a year, an unlimited fine and ended up with a criminal

record. It could cost you your job and give you trouble travelling to other countries like the USA.

And that's before we even consider the harm you might cause others. In short, it's just not worth to risk.

Now listen, no one from the Amphiel Rapp is going to tell you what you can and can't do in your private life.

But it is good to remind ourselves of the importance of making a plan and looking out for yourself and your mates.

That could be booking a taxi or arranger to stay over at one of your

mates or leaving the car at home so you can get the train or bus in the morning. It only takes

one mistake but you could be regretted for a lifetime. Think, don't put drugs in the driving
