In this episode of the podcast, we're going to get to know a true cannabis couple.

Yes, that's a weed pun, but it's also the most apt description imaginable for my guests,

Michelle and Michael Aldrich.

Because, as you're about to hear, together they've been tirelessly advocating for the cannabis plant and for authentic weed culture for over 50 years, ever since they first met at the first ever conference

hosted by the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. How is that for a weed meat

cute? Within weeks of that fateful normal conference, Michelle uprooted her life, presumably put some flowers in her hair,

and headed to San Francisco to be with Michael.

If you're going to San Francisco, Be sure to wear some flowers in your head.

Michelle reached Michael's doorstep on a Sunday, moved in on Monday, and they've been living happily ever after ever since.

Things certainly started off on a high note because when Michelle arrived in September of 1972,

California was just a couple of months away from voting on a statewide cannabis legalization initiative.

So the couple's earliest courtship was spent driving around the state, drumming up support among

the squares, encouraging stoners to vote, and spreading their message in the media.

Heady days. Well, that 1972 ballot initiative didn't end up passing, but it did succeed

in changing the conversation around cannabis, Prohibition Forever. And it also brought together two

of the most dedicated and effective weed activists in history, a real dynamic duonamic duo, who continue to tirelessly advocate for the
