behind a flagging presidency and sluggish re-election campaign.

And what better ways to do that than using the specter of a second Trump presidency and

a potential Biden impeachment inquiry?

We have new reporting this afternoon for myself and our NBC News Capitol Hill team that Democratic

Congressmen and House Oversight Committee ranking member Jamie Raskin has been holding

meetings with Democrats as late as last night to strategize about an aggressive plan of

defense for President Biden even before Republicans formally launch an impeachment inquiry.

According to a source in the room, Raskin put it this way, quote, the Constitution says

the standard for impeachment is treason, bribery, and other high crimes and misdemeanors.
