And perhaps a fitting backdrop to close out a week that has been dominated by a political

rebellion of sorts with the House of Representatives revolting against its own leadership and now

bracing for a brutal fight inside a divided Republican conference.

In the race to replace ousted speaker Kevin McCarthy, former President Donald Trump has

now entered the fray.

He's throwing his support behind Ohio's Jim Jordan, a congressman once considered a

bomb-thrower on the fringe of the conference.

Jordan hasn't changed, but the party has.

So much so that he's now arguably part of the mainstream in the House.

Jordan is facing House Majority Leader Steve Scalise who is banking on his institutional

record inside an increasingly conservative Republican conference.
