as five Republican candidates prepare to take the stage here tomorrow night in the third Republican

presidential primary debate hosted by

NBC news. I'm Garrett Hake inside our NBC studios at Telemundo but before the

candidates take the stage here at Miami tomorrow tonight Tonight is election night.

There it is.

Right now, voters across the country

are headed to the polls in statewide races

that will give us critical insights into the national

political environment especially on the issue of abortion just one year out

from the 2024 presidential election let's break down tonight's biggest contest, starting with Virginia,

where every seat in the General Assembly is up for grabs. Democrats in the state have leaned

heavily into messaging around protecting abortion rights. If Republicans win control of both chambers,

they could pass Governor Jumkin's legislative agenda,

which includes a 15-week ban on abortion.

In Ohio, abortion access is literally on the ballot, as voters weigh in on a ballot measure

that would enshrine abortion rights into the state's constitution.

A measure to legalize recreational marijuana is also on the ballot there today.

And both parties will also be watching a pair of high-profile governor's races tonight

for clues about the relative strength or weakness of their national party brands.

In Mississippi, Governor Tate Reeves is of their national party brands.
