This has been frenetic with a lot of developments.

You are looking at live pictures from the convention floor where the roll call is

ongoing right now after just moments ago former president Donald J Trump

officially got the number of delegates needed to become the Republican nominee and in a post on

truth social last hour Mr. Trump announced he has chosen Ohio Senator J.D. Vance to be his

running mate. Senator Vance will soon be formally nominated to become the

Republican Party's Vice Presidential nominee.

We will bring you that live when it happens in just a few moments.

This opening day of the convention of course

comes amid the aftermath of Mr. Trump narrowly surviving an assassination attempt

this weekend at a campaign rally the shocking images of a bloody Trump first raised and surrounded

by his protective detail, hagging over this entire convention and now this entire presidential

race. And I believe if we go to the floor, House Speaker Mike Johnson is officially

announcing Donald J Trump, that President Donald J Trump is the party's nominee, having received a majority of the votes entitled to be cast at the convention,

has been selected as the Republican Party nominee

for President of the United States. And And with that it is official and you can feel the excitement.
