I'm Ryan Nobles on a pivotal day in the efforts to contain the deadly and devastating wildfires in Los Angeles.

Right now, 13 million Californians are under fire alerts through Wednesday with those powerful Santa Ana winds expected to reach up to 70 miles per hour.

The National Weather Service just issued this dire warning.

Particularly dangerous situation red flag warnings are for the extreme of the extreme fire weather

scenarios. In other words, this setup is about as bad as it gets. Three major wildfires are

still burning. The largest, the Palisades fire, is just 14% contained.

The Eaton fire is just one third contained, and the death toll continues to rise. Now at 24,

with more than 12,000 structures that have been destroyed and 40,000 acres burned. That's an area

roughly the same size as our nation's capital.

Now, despite officials saying that they've made significant progress

towards containing the Palisades Fire,

LA's fire chief today warned residents should not become complacent.

We are not in the clear as of yet,

and we must not let our guard down. As we have right now,

extreme fire behavior, and we need to make sure that the community is staying updated
