I'm Aaron Gilchrist in Washington as the world's richest man is taking full advantage of his proximity to presidential

power. Elon Musk and President Trump are moving rapidly to dismantle government programs and

entire government agencies created by federal law. And they're doing it with seemingly little pushback

on Capitol Hill. Their latest target, the Department of Education. Now, sources familiar with the

matter tell NBC News, the White House is preparing an executive order to eliminate the entire department.

The Washington Post reports that a team from Musk's Department of Government efficiency

has begun working inside the agency to start cutting spending and staff.

And moments ago in the Oval Office, President Trump reiterated his campaign promise that he would

like to shudder the Department of Education.
