The new manager of the New York Mets,

Mickey Calloway, former pitching coach of the Cleveland Indians, announced as the manager of the New York Mets, Mickey Callaway, former pitching coach of the Cleveland Indians announced as the manager of the Mets earlier this week.

I'm Rob Brender with Matt Serone and Steve Hofstadter.

This episode is going to be centered around Mickey and this obviously new regime that the Mets are bringing in, their new field staff, and a bit about his press

conference as well if you didn't have a chance to actually hear the press conference or watch

the press conference as it happened. We're going to play a lot of clips from that press

conference. So guys, we'll start with this. Steve, your initial thoughts on the hiring of Mickey

Callaway as the new Mets manager?

I think, you know, I don't know a ton about him. I don't think a lot of us know a ton about him, especially managerial style, because this is his first big league manager job.

But I think he's young and he's excited, and those are two things that the Mets need right now.

Hopefully he thinks that stats are a thing.

And I think it's really cool that he is wearing number 36

because Casey Stangle is a hero of his and that's one number away.

And it'll also, you know, carry on the legacy of people like Juan Santano and Don Florence

and other wonderful number 36es from the Mets past.
