So we're going to be talking about your book. It's called Making the Afterlife Connection,

the journey from doubt to knowing that death is not the end.

Could you give us your background as a Navy commander, senior aide to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs, and what happened on 9-11?

You bet. I knew from a young age that I wanted to join the military, And I did get a commission as a naval officer right

out of college. And I served for 20 years in a variety of tours, none of them at sea, because when I

joined the Navy, women were not allowed on most ships. But I very much enjoyed my time and got to be a

commanding officer of a shore unit. And the greatest

honor, as you just mentioned, was in my final assignment when the head of the United States Armed Forces,

the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff asked me to be his aide to camp. And that was a very exciting
