This is Monica Perez here with part three of Meditations by Marcus Aurelius.

So I don't know if you can hear right now the jackhammer has stopped,

but there's literally been a jackhammer outside the door of this room all day.

Oh, and it looks like they turn the music off too.

Oh, no, here's the music.

So these guys are working so hard.

Sometimes like 100 degrees out and they're whenever digging the footings for the wall.

So they're listening to like loud Mexican music, which is nice. It's nice. I'm very happy for

them that they can enjoy themselves in backbreaking labor, but I'm not going out there and

telling them that they have to turn their music off or even stop jackhammering. So I'm going

to let them work. And if you guys can't hear it, I'll just have to re-record this later, but it was either try it or cancel. So let's try it. Yeah, so we're on book four. It's been a long time since I've read this, so I don't know what we're dealing with here. I don't know what each new book is going to bring.

But I have my annotations, my original annotations, so who knows?

Maybe I've maybe had some thoughts.

Okay, book four.

Okay, that which rules within, when it is according to nature, will always adapt itself easily to that

which is possible and presented to it, for it requires no definite material in moving towards

its purpose, but rather certain conditions. And it makes a material for itself out of that

which opposes it as a great fire lays hold of a mass that

would have extinguished a tiny flame. When the fire is strong, it soon appropriates to itself the

matter that is heaped on it and consumes it, rising higher by means of this very material.
