Maybe to begin you might just close your eyes and check your sitting posture with your eyes closed.

Once you've closed your eyes, just sitting up and then sense yourself sitting in a way that's really upright and alert.

And something you might do to support that is just lean forward a little bit and then lean back a little bit and then come to center.

And even sense leaning left a little, leaning right a little and again center.

So you feel a sense of gravity, of alignment and of uprightness sitting tall.

And then around that tallness just let your body relax some.

Like a tall trunk of a tree rooted in the earth rising to the heavens and then letting the branches in a very relaxed way.

Just spread out so that the shoulders and the arms can relax.

Let your chest be open, take a few full breaths.

Let your senses be awake and just gently bring the attention to the heart area.

Just feel and notice what your heart is like right now.

Perhaps it's been a while since you've directly invited attention to the heart.

Just check in with yourself.

What's the state of my heart right now?

Noticing in a physical way, whether there's tightness or numbness, flow.

Noticing whatever mood or emotion might be flavoring, creating an atmosphere of the heart.

Letting that listening attention come even closer to sense what it is that really brings you tonight.

There may be a habitual response to that question but listen in deeply, sincerely.
