So why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself and who you are and what you do, and how did you get into this?

Yeah, of course. I am a historian of medieval medicine and religion. My official position is I'm the

Gatto chair of Christian Studies at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia.

So I teach courses on medieval history, medieval religion, and my favorite topic, medieval medicine

for the history and religious studies departments there.

It's a field I've been working on now for about 20 years since grad school.

And really what interests me most is what was medicine like within medieval Christian society?

What did it mean to heal the body in a society that thought so much about their eternal souls.
