It is disheartening that we are stuck in a cycle where the government is too incompetent to do health care

and private industry has proven itself too greedy to be trusted with health care.

While there doesn't exist a single person that I have met that doesn't strongly believe healthcare needs to be more affordable,

many are prone to using colossal oversimplifications when they

express their ideas to fix health care. That is reality, just like the people who genuinely

enjoy ice fishing tend to have drinking problems. Those whose solution for all of health care's

woes can be stated in six sentences or less,

just provided a colossal oversimplification that won't work.

Payment reforms alone, whether you call it universal healthcare,

single payer, Medicare for all,

or going to true free market capitalism, which by the way has never been

tried in my lifetime in this country, they won't address every gap in America's health

care system.

It would be an oversimplification to argue that any of them would.

Economic debates are usually more of a vehicle to espouse one's politics than it is a science.

Healthcare economics is no exception.

Now Napoleon said that in politics, stupidity is not a handicap.

And a lot of smart-sounding politicians and doctors and financial experts and others say very

stupid things when it comes to health care policy while others say inconvenient or complex

things that people don't want to digest and hear. And doctors are very divided on health care policy.

Many of us, even within the same private practice group,

have completely opposite opinions that we genuinely think will work.
