good morning welcome to the independent republic of mike graham right here on talk radio it's all

kicking off in the english channel this morning as french fishermen attempt to blockade the port of St. Helia in Jersey one day

after France's maritime minister threatened to cut off electricity to the Channel Island over the

dispute. This ladies and gentlemen is a moving story and we will keep you informed throughout the

morning. We're hearing that the fishermen in question may now be

sitting down to talk around a table, which is pretty typical of what the French do most

of the time. What we know right now is Emmanuel Macron has sent a military vessel to the area

of back-to-back-up the 100-strong fishing fleet, currently circling the Jersey port,

which they brought to a standstill earlier this morning. Boris Johnson last night

sent two Navy gunboats to Jersey, HMS 7 and HMS Tamar.

They're both in position to protect British fishermen, should that be necessary.

At the moment, it looks as though it's all reasonably calm, but there were flares being fired.

No doubt, as I said earlier, the cheese will be broken out.

The baguettes will be

coming into play as well. And soon enough, the boulogé will be eaten by the French,

because they're very good at eating the French, aren't they? They're very good at pretending

that they're actually demonstrating about something. Very good at blockading, very good at burning

tires, very good at stopping people coming into their country, very good at going on strike.

But what they're not very good at is winning anything, for heaven's sake.

Coming up first, though, we're going to go further into the investigation of the big story we broke last week.
