This is Paul Adamson and I'm in conversation with Peter Foster. Peter Foster is the Europe

editor of the British newspaper, The Daily Telegraph. Peter, we're only a few days away now from this referendum.

I'd like to ask you give you your assessment of the campaigns on the

Remain and the Leave side. And after that, I'll ask you about the media coverage.

But let's start first of all with the two main camps, Remain and Leave.

What is your general view of each camp is before me its campaigning?

You know, it's been very tight. The Remain camp have focused overwhelming on the economic arguments,

the potential costs of a Brexit to your pension most recently, and of course the ruling party,

the Conservative Party in Britain has guaranteed pensions, but even pensions couldn't be guaranteed

if we voted for Brexit and the economy shrunk and we all ended up in a terrible place.

For the other side,

the Leave side, it's been more of a focus on identity on immigration, which is the issue

that has consumed Britain over the last decade since enlargement, since net migration to the UK,

hit 300,000 plus, about half of which come from the EU. So that's been much more identity-based immigration than two camps.

I think it's fair to say, have almost given up trying to persuade the other side.

It's about mobilising their core votes because the polls show it's neck and neck,

it's very close, and then arguably the team that gets their supporters to the

voting booths is the team that's going to win this. Well, there's a lot of talkers you know about

project fear, and each side is saying the other side is engaging in scared tactics. I mean,

what is your view? Are both sides equally guilty of these scare tactics? Yeah, I think they are actually. I think both sides have gone to the limits of what it's possible to say.

So the Brexit side say we send £350 million a week to Brussels. Well, we don't.

If you take about the rebate and you take about what comes back in structural funds, it's much less than that.
