0:20.0	Before we get to our top story I would like to acknowledge that it is both
0:26.0	Columbus Day which is a national holiday and indigenous people's day which a lot of
0:30.4	people are celebrating instead.
0:32.7	And normally I don't, I'm not a huge fan of like PC stuff
0:36.7	and rewriting history and I'm not a big monument builder,
0:40.5	but I'm also not a big monument, destroyer.
0:43.8	So, but this particular issue I kind of have thoughts on,
0:48.8	which is, I understand the whole Columbus Day thing
0:52.2	because in the context of our of a history until like basically this moment
0:59.0	People have been proud of what's called progress of exploration and development and all that kind of stuff in our own history everybody kind of has that that's something that's absolutely trying to be destroyed so those who would destroy Columbus Day aren't really destroying it because they care about justice and equity.
1:14.4	They're destroying it because it's a unifying positive way to think about history.
1:19.7	However, it's a pretty sketchy thing to have the history of taking over this kind of untamed
1:28.1	land from people who lived here.
1:30.9	And for me, it's always been a question of the origin of property rights and I could justify it
1:36.3	I'm not saying I took this position strongly but I think the argument is that you can't
1:41.7	That there were be a million indigenous people on North America or in the confines of what's now the United States at the time of the colonies.
1:53.8	And that that's a terrible waste of land.
1:58.8	That it's not, it doesn't comport with be fruitful and multiply.
2:01.8	It's just not efficient.
