While the nation watches high-profile races,

ballot initiatives plant seeds of change.

I'm Monica Perez and this is today's deep dive.

So just as I was thinking about this, a headline marches across my screen,

New York Times providing the diving board for today,

across the country voting issues are on the ballot.

Abortion and guns are too. Its

subtitle is ballot initiatives on an array of issues offer an opportunity to

take the nation's temperature particularly when it comes to voting access.

Now, I'm already in somewhat of agreement

and somewhat of not agreement.

I think the ballot initiatives show what's important to people or important to corporations or

wherever the sponsors are with important politically but on a really nitty gritty

issue by issue basis and then it'll also provide a litmus test of what people feel about

those issues or think or what they want it I think shows regional differences

you can clearly see with like the abortion issue where people break one way or the other.

Yes, it's red and blue, but some places you can see by the strength of the language in some

of these abortion initiatives where they think that the political

center is.

So I picked a few that I'm keeping an eye on, and so today is election day. I'm recording the
