All right, folks, welcome back. If you've joined us for our first two sessions, this is session

three. I'm Bill Real. This is Jacob Hanson along for the ride again. So this will be a lot of fun.

The first session we talked about morality, the second session we discussed, at least in part,

faith crises. And here we are for session number

three. And today, we're going to talk about testimony, testimony in the Church of Jesus Christ

of Latter-day Saints, the restored gospel, and how one can arrive at testimony and how one can know that that testimony has the best chance of

being true versus other conclusions that could be drawn. And so I wonder, Jacob, if you'd start

us off, because when you framed this as a topic to go into, you shared with me that you've got the things that you

depend on to kind of help you come up with what you see is an accurate, truthful, the best we can do.

Again, we're all sort of guessing at it, right? The accurate, truthful way to arrive at knowing that the way you

framed it in your mind about what's true and what isn't can be depended on. And so I wonder if you

could start us off by kind of running us through that formula, helping people to understand

what are the components of how you get to testimony. And let's go from there. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely.

So first of, when we're talking about testimony, it's also important to kind of pull back a little bit and set up,

what are we talking about here? Because really what we're talking about is we're talking about knowledge.

We're talking about how you know things, right? People go up and they bear what they know.

They say that I know the church is true, right?

And so one of the things that a person needs to first ask is, how do you know anything?

Like, how do you know what you know?

And what a lot of people don't realize is that that is the epistemological question.

philosophical field known as epistemology that explores the nature of knowledge and how do we
