Summary

An extra-long episode which could certainly have been shorter, but how else would our intrepid trio manage to talk about everything that's going on? We hear from Rory McIlroy after he wins the Players Championship in a Monday play-off with JJ (JM) Spaun. Eddie has troubling tales of pencil misuse in India, despite Jen claiming another top-ten. We try to answer the question - do caddies make a difference? Iain talks about the growing gap between top-level golfers and many of those who wish to hear from them. Then Andrew tries to set-up a game of golf with Eddie. Only for Eddie to deny him, by saying that he doesn't owe anybody in the media anything.

then you're going to be massively disappointed, although I'm sure, frankly, not surprised either as we talk about other things.

One of the reasons we're talking later on about the Players' Championship, which has just finished,

0:44.5

the playoff has just finished, is that the playoff has just finished.

And Ian Carter, our regular special guest, is over in Sawgrass.

0:51.9

So as we speak, he's chasing hither and thither to get Rory

0:56.0

McElroy. And he comes quite, sometimes he's quite far up the food chain, but I think this

1:01.8

week he's quite far down the food chain because there are a lot of American outlets, American

1:07.0

television, Sky. Then he goes to whatever. And so BBC Radio, for whom Ian is there,

1:14.5

he will be getting Rory Macaro shortly. So Ian will join us at some point. He'll arrive,

1:19.3

crashing on in with a dramatic flourish going, Tadda, here I am, and he will bring news of

1:25.0

Macle and we'll have a chat about all sorts of things. Eddie Pepperel,, I can see him. He's in what looks like a very nice hotel room again,

1:32.8

but you're in Delhi, New Delhi or Guru Graham or somewhere like that? Yes, I think that's right.

1:38.2

I'm not going to attempt to pronounce it, but I think it's the latter of the three there.

1:43.4

I upgraded us, Andrew. I got in and like the Billy Big Bullocks that I am. I said, have you got any sweets available? And she said, the guy said actually, yeah, and he gave it us for half price. So I think it was a good investment. That is a good investment. Twice the size of the room. And it's always nice to come home after a hot day's work on the golf course to a nice big cold room.

2:03.1

Yeah.

2:03.5

And it's quite late over there.

2:05.7

I think it's half past eight or nine o'clock or something.

2:09.4

So you're going to be by the end of this podcast, which usually goes on for about four and a half hours.

2:13.5

It'll be after midnight and yeah, you will be a tired teddy bear.
