Now, I don't interview people very often because I don't really know many people and those people I do know

probably aren't of interest to you. I mean I could interview my neighbor he's a

lovely and charming man with lots of fascinating tales. But would he

tells of woodworking and boat building be of interest to my

audiobook slash podcast fiction-loving listeners? No I don't think so. It's kind of

off-brand. I mean this isn't a woodworking and boat-building podcast, is it? No.

So, what are my audiobook slash podcast fiction-loving listeners interested in? It's a puzzler, hmm? Oh no wait, of course it isn't. It's

audio book slash podcast fiction. Or at least good audiobook slash podcast fiction and especially audiobook

slash podcast fiction which is genre-wise in a similar vein to my own audio book slash

podcast fiction and so that brings me to my guest today Mike Bartlett is an Australian author and

podcast who, like me, started out in the mid 2000s, posting chapters of his

works to the now defunct but much-miss audiobook library podiobooks.com.

When Mike and I first met, internet wise, I was podcasting my first novel,

one among the sleepless and Mike was podcasting his novel How to Disappear Completely.

And if you were listening to One Among the Sleepless back then, you would have heard a promo

for How to Disappear Completely on that podcast and quite possibly as a result checked it out

our promos you don't get them anymore do you I mean you know back in the days of podio books all

we authors used to swap promos and cross promote each other's work.

It was a great way to build an audience, you know, and for you, listeners, to find new things to listen to.
