Summary

In this episode, Michael Blank sits down with Hal Elrod, bestselling author of The Miracle Morning, to talk about habits, mindset, and resilience. Hal shares how a near-fatal car accident, cancer, and financial collapse reshaped his philosophy on success—and why personal development is the foundation of financial freedom. This conversation explores how investors can use intentional daily routines to build clarity, discipline, and long-term fulfillment both in business and in life.

Key Takeaways

  1. Morning routines shape long-term success — how you start the day determines focus, energy, and results.
  2. Adversity is neutral — meaning comes from the perspective you choose, not the circumstance itself.
  3. Personal development is non-negotiable — investing in yourself accelerates every other area of life.
  4. Small daily habits compound over time, creating massive long-term impact.
  5. Success without fulfillment is failure — aligning goals with purpose matters more than achievement alone.
  6. Consistency beats intensity — sustainable routines outperform short-lived motivation.

Hey, Dealmakers, welcome to the show where it's all about financial freedom with real estate.

0:03.8

Let's do this.

0:12.3

Today I'm jamming up with my friend Hal Elrod, the creator of the Miracle Morning,

0:16.5

and it's so good to chat with Hell.

0:19.3

It's been a while since I've had on a podcast, but he's spoken to a dealmaker live a couple times here over the years.

0:25.4

And today's show, we really talk about why the Miracle Morning still matters in a world

0:29.5

full of AI, chaos, distraction, and why it's not really about just waking up early at all.

0:36.3

It's really a philosophy, a way of life,

0:38.4

a way of thinking, and how that's important to us as well. We talk about why personal development

0:43.6

matters more now than ever, and how he used a miracle morning door his great recession that he went

0:49.2

through. He literally financially destroyed him and lost his house, his near-death experiences,

0:55.1

his cancer he had nine years ago. And we do talk about the difference between kind of blind positivity and, you know,

1:00.7

and grounded faith and being practical at the same time. How do you reconcile? How do you,

1:05.2

how do you stay positive in when you're being challenged while having a deal with practicalities

1:10.6

of that challenges? And really, how do you become clear on what's important to us? And, you know, how is a bit of a workaholic maybe like I am as well? And there's one lesson that he learned out of his cancer near-death experience that really kind of changed him and shook him kind of to the core a little bit. We talk about that. I try to ask him a few questions that maybe he doesn't normally get asked. So it should be a pretty good interview here, real conversation. Didn't have too many notes. I kind of just went with a flow a little bit. Always great to have a good honest conversation with Hal. So let's get into it with Hal Elrod. Hal, welcome to the show. Michael Blank, man.

1:44.2

It is good to see you.

1:45.2

It's been a minute.

1:46.7

It's great to see you again.

1:47.9

And obviously, you're well known for the Miracle Morning. It came out, what, 17, whatever, 20 years ago. It changed my life. I'd say about, I know, seven, eight years ago when I started practicing it. And, you know, the question is, a lot of people ask this question, Hal, is like, is it still relevant, right?

2:01.5

Because obviously, with AI, nothing is relevant that happened before AI. I mean, who cares about anything, you know? Forget that. So, I mean, is it still relevant to something that's still useful for people or should we just look for something else? I love that question. Yeah. And to be, to be clear, it came out, what, 2012, so 2012, so 13 years ago, give or take. Yeah. Here's the thing. I love that you brought up AI in this question because we are living in a time where it's like the past and it used to be the past equals the future and now you've got to

2:35.6

get very meta for that to be true and even then it's like it's a very uncertain time and it's hard

2:41.1

to predict the future and the one thing no matter what that is the only thing that we can control
