Well, lots of emails asking what exactly happened to President Trump in the courtroom,

in New York, details of the case, any thoughts or perspectives.

Nothing more than you would expect, but I will provide you a couple of details.

President Trump was sued civilly, and I know you know this, but you have basically two different

types of courtrooms and laws in the United States. One criminal, one civil.

So for instance, OJ Simpson was first arrested, and by our law enforcement departments,

and he was brought before the judicial department, or he was before the judiciary, on the criminal

side. That is the state versus OJ Simpson. The goal there is to punish the person who

committed this crime on behalf of the state. The victim of a crime is not the bringer of a case,

not even in their name, because the theory goes, and this is hundreds of years old in Anglo-American

jurisprudence, that a crime is not just a crime against the victim who suffers that crime.

It is that there is a state of nature of peace that exists, and that the defendant is accused

of breaching that state. It's a ripple across the water. It affects everyone and everything.

So that is why cases are brought on behalf of the state. The Pete in New York, they'll say,

the people versus the charge there, the potential loss to a defendant are the usual ways in which

a defendant is punished. It could be prison time, it could be probation, and it could include a fine.

You could have to discourage profits that are ill gained. There could be a fine, which is sort of

a form of punishment for what you've done, but the goal there is punishment against the defendant.
