Summary

Cousin Sal took the family to San Diego this weekend to see the Mets and Jacob deGrom pitch as he lowered his ERA even further to 0.62. Dave recaps his weekend of going to the beach and trying to cleanse himself (02:00). Sal didn’t watch the Floyd Mayweather/Logan Paul fight and thinks the whole thing is bad for boxing. Dave argues there should be even more fan interaction in sports (08:00). The guys discuss the NBA playoffs as James Harden is out for Game 2, Brooklyn (1-5.)/Milwaukee and potentially the series, Dave thinks that injuries are really hurting this year’s playoffs. The Clippers win Game 7 against the Mavericks and Dave likes them to continue against the Jazz. Sal gives his picks for Monday night with a Suns/Deandre Ayton parlay (16:30). Dave explains his process for coming up with the winners for the Sheky Awards as he gave buttermilk donut of the year; Sal questions how he does it. Then, the Titans traded for Julio Jones but Dave doesn’t think this makes them a Super Bowl contender and Sal thinks the Titans miss the playoffs completely. Dave thinks the AFC is loaded and the Patriots could potentially bounce back (36:00). The guys give their Crown Royal, King of the Court awards- as Sal pays tribute to the Atlanta Hawks and Dave gives Luka his due. They discuss John Rahm being forced to withdraw at the Memorial golf tournament because of a positive Covid test and the gambling implications. Would the PGA have done the same with Phil (50:00)? Finally, they discuss Islanders/Bruins (-184), the Redsox sweep the Yankees and Sal loves to yell about pitchers not observing the :30 pitch clock. Cousin Sal coming to you with his dear, dear pal, Dave Damashik,

0:21.5

what's happening, check. Action-packed weekend, right? It really was personally and I guess

0:28.1

professionally, if this is what our profession is, is watching other people do stuff. It was,

0:32.4

it was really loaded with the, I know you participated family style in some sports stuff. You blended your

0:39.7

personal and professional lives. Yeah, I said it was action packed. I'm like, let me get a piece

0:44.0

of the action. It was Saturday morning and I'm like, ah, Mets Padres. That's a two hour,

0:48.4

two and a half hour drive for night. But I have to see Jacob de Grom, right? I feel like I have

0:53.4

to see him living on the West Coast. It's not easy to match up the, all right, when they come to see the Dodgers, maybe he'll be in the rate rotation. God forbid he's injured. I had to take that shot, Jack. I had to every year he pitches for the Mets. I have to go see it. So I did. I loaded the kids up. I bought some crappy seats and uh, and there we were. And a very underrated ballpark. I know I've, I've been there with you, but Petco, lots of fun. You remember, uh, you have experiences of Petco? I know you like taking out in every park. That's right. Yeah. No, the, um, the only time I was there was in its debut season along with you, as you mentioned there. And it was kind of incomplete. The background, the backdrop, you know, in the outfield and everything wasn't as solidified as it is now. But yes, people swoon over that ballpark. They did a nice job. Yeah, there's like a nice skyline, kind of like you'd have in your own, your home yard

1:47.4

there in Pittsburgh there.

1:48.4

I like that.

1:49.2

It's a little touristy, but I, uh, I did appreciate it.

1:51.9

And I did appreciate seeing Jacob de Grom, seven innings, shutout ball, three hits,

1:56.8

down to 0.6 to ERA.

2:00.7

This is through nine or 10 starts. This is getting ridiculous, right?

2:04.5

I mean, he is almost half of Bob Gibson's ERA there. That's exactly right. I know. Look,

2:10.7

we're coming up on mid-June. And now this is, we're getting to the place where this is getting

2:15.6

sweeny and we have to really celebrate it.

2:19.0

And good for you for loading the kids up in the car and making them go and see a little bit of

2:24.5

history. Eddie Spaghetti said on minus three last week that it's an honor to be to say that he
