Summary

Mayor Q's idol, Barack Obama, would be so proud of all the slimy little grifts going on with our wanna be celebrity mayor.  Nothing illegal here as The Independent chronicles how our mayor flies to Europe and goes to Super Bowls with it breaking the "ban on gifts" rules.  And while it's juicy reading, it's the part we don't know that would really get this mayor in big trouble.    The DOGE warriors met with lawmakers in DC and several conservative members left the meetings optimistic about what they can do through executive order but believe Congress won't go along with almost anything else.    The Chiefs go for AFC West title number 9 in a row Sunday night against the Chargers.  We have the full preview.  KU and MU lace 'em up Sunday in Columbia and www.dannyclinkscale.com has some thoughts on what it will look like.  Lee Sterling of www.paramountsports.com has our weekly picks and I didn't even tell him about the sweet surprise today.... our Song of the Week is Lee's daughter Brooke singing the Star Spangled Banner before a Chicago Bears game.  This pod has it all.

Lee Sterling will join us with our weekly picks. We're going to talk a lot of Chiefs football as the big game

is coming up on Sunday night against the Chargers. This is a massive game as the Chiefs go for their ninth straight AFC West title. And our song of the week today, unbeknownst to Lee Sterling, is his daughter singing the national anthem. I never give away what the song of the week is. I always tease it to the very

end of the podcast this week. I'm giving it away. You want to hear Brooks Sterling sing the National

Anthem at the Chicago Bears game a couple of weeks ago? It is spectacular. And she was

terrific. And she's lovely and she's an actress as well. And we're so proud of Lee and his family

and his daughter. And we will have that for you. It's all jam-packed

1:11.5

with a lot of topics all right here at KKHI today, where we start with Mayor Q and a report

from the Independent, followed up by the pitch in Kansas City about Quentin Lucas and his

extravagant trips that he takes, not on taxpayer dimes, taxpayer dime, but even worse is the way it is funded

through something called the mayor's core of progress, which Mayor Richard Berkeley many,

1:36.3

many decades ago set up in Kansas City for business development. The Mayor's Corps of Progress was

business leaders in Kansas City, putting money into a mayor's fund where the mayor and his staff could, you know, bring in speakers, get conventions, do business in other cities to try to get companies to move to Kansas City.

1:55.6

It was a business development fund by the biggest businesses in Kansas City where the mayor and the city would

try to get things for Kansas City. It eventually at some point dissolved. Mayor Sly James

2:09.7

brought it back maybe about 10, 15 years ago. Mayor Sly James started using it. It remained in place

2:15.9

and it has now become a slush fund for Mayor Quentin Lucas.
