Here's what everyone is talking about in Washington. The debt limit. First, President Biden at

4 o'clock, we'll meet with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell,

Speaker Kevin McCarthy, and House Minority Leader

Hakeem Jeffries at the White House. That's this afternoon at 4 o'clock. Obviously, it's a big

important meeting, but at the same time, it's only May 9th, and it's going to be a while before these

negotiations get into the nitty-gritty. So most people don't expect major news to be coming

out of this meeting, but obviously an important step in the process. Number two, there's a new

analysis that we have in the newsletter today from the bipartisan policy center, one of the think tanks

that have become experts on estimating the so-called X-state when the government will

bump up against the debt limit. And BPC is saying now early June to early August. Obviously,

that tracks with what Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen recently said when she announced

the government could stop being able to pay its bills as early as June 1st. But BPC is saying the window is June

to early August, but no later. Joining me now to discuss how the debt limit debate in Washington

is playing out on the campaign trail for the 2024 GOP primary is Politico's national political
