Hi friends. I'm Annie F. Downs. Let's read the Gospels. The Gospels are the first four books

of the New Testament in the Bible,

Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. These are the stories of Jesus Christ's life on earth, the friendships,

the parables, the sacrifices, the meals, the miracles. So here is how this works. We're reading

four books in 30 days. We've worked our way through John, Luke, and Mark. We're working on Matthew now. I read about

three chapters a day. So you can listen, you can watch on YouTube, you can read along in your own Bible,

and then I'll pray, and that's it. So today is day 23, and I'll be reading Matthew 6 through 8

Matthew 6.

Watch out.

Don't do your good deeds publicly to be admired by others,

for you will lose the reward from your father in heaven.

When you give to someone in need,

don't do as the

hypocrites do, blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of

charity. I tell you the truth, they have received all the reward they will ever get. But when you

give to someone in need, don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Give your

gifts in private and your father who sees everything

will reward you. When you pray, don't be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street
