0:00.0	Hi friends I am Annie F Downs. Let's read the Gospels. Well let's read what happened right after the
0:06.4	Gospels. The Gospels are the first four books of the New Testament in the Bible, Matthew,
0:10.0	Mark, Luke, and John. These are the stories of Jesus Christ life on earth, the
0:14.3	friendships, the parables, the sacrifices, the meals, the miracles. And the book of
0:19.2	acts picks up right where the gospel is left off and takes us into the birth of the church, the continued
0:24.4	ministry of the disciples and the conversion and first years of Paul's ministry as well.
0:29.7	This is the book that answers the question, so then what happened and what do we do now? So here's
0:34.6	how this works. I'm going to read one chapter to you today. You can listen or watch on
0:38.4	YouTube you can read along in your own Bibles and then I will maybe reflect a little bit on what we read and then I'll pray and that is it.
0:45.5	So today is day 21 and I'll be reading acts 21 in the new living translation.
0:57.0	Acts 21. After saying farewell to the Ephesian elders,
1:00.0	we sailed straight to the island of costs.
1:02.0	The next day we reached roads and then went to Patara.
1:06.3	There we boarded a ship sailing for Phoenicia.
1:09.6	We sighted the island of Cyprus past it on our left and landed at the harbor of Tyre in Syria where the ship was to unload its cargo.
1:18.0	We went ashore, found the local believers, and stayed with them a week.
1:23.4	These believers prophesied through the Holy Spirit
1:25.6	that Paul should not go on to Jerusalem.
1:28.7	When we returned to the ship at the end of the week,
1:30.7	the entire congregation, including women and children, left the city and came
1:34.3	down to the shore with us.
1:36.6	There we knelt, prayed, and said our farewells.
