It's Friday morning. I'm Olivia Reingold, and this is your Politico Playbook Daily Briefing.

We're learning that the White House snubbed Megan McCain, the views lone conservative after she

approached them about getting vaccinated on air, and that that's a problem within the West Wing,

celebrity wranglers and donors tell Playbook they're having trouble getting the time of day

from the Biden administration. More on that later, but first.

GOP senators, including top negotiator Shelley Moore Capito, are heading to the White House today

to get the ball rolling on infrastructure again, and the AP is reporting this morning that Biden's

cabinet isn't feeling great about the odds of a deal.

Here's why. Earlier this week, Capito and other Republicans met with the White House to present a revised proposal.

After that meeting, she told Politico, quote,

we've reworked our original proposal and they're just going to look at it in more detail.

The White House said it would follow up with Republicans by the end of the week.

Yesterday, a reporter asked Press Secretary Jen Saki to confirm that the White House would

present a counteroffer to the Republicans on Friday, to which Saki said.

We do expect we had constructive conversations at a staff level on Tuesday on the Hill with

Senator Capito, other ranking members with Steve Bruchetti and Louisa Terrell, Secretary

Buttigieg, Secretary Ramando, and we expect those conversations to continue tomorrow.
