Summary

Gene and guest cohost Goggs Mackay introduce long-time paranormal researcher Brent Raynes. He is the editor of an online monthly magazine entitled Alternate Perceptions, and the author of "Visitors From Hidden Realms" (2004) and "On The Edge of Reality" (2009). Raynes has a third book coming out later in 2018, to be published by Visionary Living Publishing and tentatively entitled" John A. Keel: The Man, Myths and Mysteries." Raynes' journey into paranormal research was heavily influenced by John Keel early on. They shared correspondence that began back in October 1969. He was also heavily influenced by Jacques Vallee and Brad Steiger.

But this is something I wanted to mention before we go on,

0:41.7

because Chris has talked about the San Luis Valley Camera Project for so long

0:46.2

that he's finally started a fundraising program.

Make the San Luis Valley Camera Project become a reality. And he has something called, what's it

1:02.3

1:10.1

to somebody you follow on YouTube or whatever

1:12.9

and Patreon's just like a donation system.

1:17.2

Because you know YouTube had that huge thing where they started demonetizing videos

1:22.1

so they wouldn't run ads on certain videos with certain content.

1:25.9

However, they use algorithms mostly to do this. And there are so many mistakes that this algorithm makes. Like, you know, it'll demonetize one video because of something that's silly, saying, oh, it's not family friendly, it's this and that, when it's not actually that. And, you know, you can complain to YouTube and get a human to look at it, but they've

1:47.6

got so many accounts that it's, you know, it's very difficult.

1:51.2

And some of the popular people on YouTube are making decent living from their advertising.

1:56.5

And then there was just this huge crackdown wrong, in my opinion.

2:02.8

So that's what's happened. But people are getting money instead from things like Patreon. Well, we have an official

2:07.5

powercast YouTube channel, but it took us a while just to be approved for monetization.

2:13.5

And even then, we're really at the low ebb. It's going to take quite a while before we see much money from it.

2:19.5

And of course, you see on YouTube, we have people who say, why do you have commercials?
