All right, let's get into it. A lot is happening in Washington

as Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen told congressional leaders in a Monday letter that the U.S.

government could default on its $31.4 trillion debt as early as June 1st unless Congress acts. This is far, far earlier than many

had expected, and some Republicans are questioning whether it's the real deadline. Shortly before

Yellen's letter went public, we scooped that President Joe Biden called Speaker Kevin McCarthy

and other members of the Big Four,

seeking to schedule a meeting to discuss lifting the borrowing cap.

That sit-down is slated for May 9th, a week from today.
