I'm Ian Masters, and today we'll look into a number of stories and issues in the news.

We'll begin with today's Supreme Court oral arguments on birthright citizenship,

which turned out to be all about Trump's efforts to stop federal judges from blocking

his aggressive and often illegal agenda with nationwide injunctions.

Joining us to discuss how little was discussed about birthright citizenship and how much

the focus is on whether a single federal judge can block Trump's policies across the countries

is Alan Morrison, Associate Deem for Public Interest and Public Service, and a professor of law

at George Washington University School of Law, where he teaches civil procedure and constitutional law.

He has argued 20 cases in the United States Supreme Court and previously worked for the Public Citizen Litigation Group,

which he co-founded with Ralph Nader in 1972 and directed for over 25 years.

Then we'll examine the history of birthright citizenship as settled law since 1898

and speak with Gabriel Chin, a professor of law at the UC Davis School of Law,

where he teaches immigration law, criminal procedure and race and law.

The United States Supreme Court cited his work on collateral consequences

of criminal conviction and his efforts with students to repeal Jim Crow laws still on the books,

including a successful 2003 petition to the Ohio legislature to ratify the 14th Amendment,

136 years after the state, disapproved it during the ratification process.

Then finally, with Trump yet again giving Putin a past, after siding with him to get out

under sanctions from the Europeans by Putin promising peace talks in Turkey for which Putin

did not show up, we'll look into how Russia's girlfriend
