sets sail from Portsmouth, England with a fleet of 11 ships.

Absolutely.

Now let's go back to May 13, 1787,

just as the sun was beginning to rise over the city of Portsmouth.

There was a chill about the air in the harbor.

A bracing wind blew off the water as the sailors moved quickly to prepare their ships,

all 11 of them.
