So there's movies like if I went home and Angel was on, I've seen it, but I'll probably leave it on and I'll probably watch it and I'll probably just like being in the company of that movie.

And like I like being in the company of Tulane Blacktop and I like being in the company of smoking and the bandit.

And I like being in the company of Douglas.

Like I just like a movie that you've seen and you're just like, I just like being around this movie. And so that was a big thing for me about these three different styles is to be like,

if you caught these movies, you know, down the road from now on TV, you would just leave it on

because you're like, I like the ride.

In this episode, an aspiring actress finally gets her big break while a killer looms over Hollywood and director Ty West's crime horror, Maxine.

The third entry in West's trilogy of X films tells the story of Maxine,

an adult film star looking to break into mainstream

cinema in 1980s Hollywood. But when a mysterious killer begins stalking starlets on the strip,

a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past. In addition to Maxine, West's other

directorial credits include the feature films, Pearl, X,

in a valley of violence, the innkeepers, and The House of the Devil,

and episodes of the series, Them, Tales from the Loop, The Exorcist, and Wayward Pines.

Following a screening of the film at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles, West spoke with

director Sean Baker about filming Maxine.
