Summary

We just returned from a bus tour, visiting with friends from Tulsa to Charlotte. One consistent theme I heard from hundreds of conversations was about finding hope again after nearly two years of what our world has gone through.

In the words of my friend, Max, “Don’t measure the height of the mountain. Ponder the power of the one who made it. Don’t tell God how big your storm is. Tell the storm how big your God is. Your problem is not that your problem is so big, but that your view of God is too small.” Listen in for more of his wise words in this week’s episode.

Max Lucado is a pastor, speaker, and bestselling author who, in his own words, “writes books for people who don’t read books.” He serves the people of Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas, and his message is for the hurting, the guilty, the lonely, and the discouraged: God loves you; let him.

His newest book, You Were Made for This Moment: Courage For Today and Hope for Tomorrow (Thomas Nelson, September 2021), is a relevant and timely release for a society still reeling from racial divides, political strife, and a global pandemic.

The Dream Big Academy

Living a focused, engaged life of love, adventure, and impact shouldn't be a mystery.

It's what we're all wired for, it's what we all long for. But, it's not the norm. From all the places I've traveled to and the people I've met, I know that most people don't experience that kind of life. They feel...

Like they're missing out on a different life, a life that others seem to experience.

That it should've all just worked out by now, but it hasn't.

Frankly, like they're languishing- and this must be as good as it gets.

But, there's so much more...

That's why we started putting these digital courses together. I can't travel everywhere, and not everyone can travel to me. But, what if there was a way to share life together and walk through these simple ideas I've been learning?

Before, we've released these courses one at a time. Then we'd close the registration. But through the pandemic, we learned that a LOT of people want to keep growing, and they're looking for a framework they can trust.

So, we put them all together- 6 interactive digital courses. Two specifically designed to help you identify and unleash your big ambitions. One for budding authors. Another for speakers. A course for your family. A course for your career. With more coming in the future.

And, since we already have Bob Weekly as a monthly subscription for exclusive content, we threw that in there, too.

The Dream Big Academy is the place to go for people wanting to get serious about the shape of their lives.

I'd love for you to learn more- maybe even watch a short webinar we put together that goes into more detail.

Hey folks, welcome to another episode of the Dream Big Podcast, Bob Goff and Friends.

0:14.9

I'm your host Scotch Shibble, and if you've been tracking for a while, you know that it's

0:20.2

pretty rare for us to have repeat guests on the show, but this one seems like quite a

0:25.8

cool little bookend because the beginning of the shutdown, beginning of COVID and quarantine,

0:31.5

I can remember I had three kids at home from school. We were trying to make it work, trying

0:37.5

to figure it out, and I was working in my garage, and we don't have a clean garage. I wish

0:44.2

we did. We don't remember being out in our garage and having a conversation over Zoom with

0:49.8

a guy that we're going to have on the podcast this week, Max. And I just felt like a clash

0:54.7

of worlds here, this legend, best-selling author, speaker, and here I am in my dirty garage with

1:01.2

noisy kids inside. And the question I think that was on my mind and all of our minds was, what is

1:07.0

this? What is this thing that we're going through? And here we are, fast-forward, almost a year

1:12.9

and a half later. And I think a question that's coming up now is, what was that? Not what was

1:19.6

that specifically, but what is that doing to us? Everything we've been through in the past year

1:25.8

and a half, what was that? I've got a good friend that is still trying to work his way out of,

1:32.5

I don't call it a funk, call it, and Max's words prolongate the sense of winter. And I can skip

1:42.1

that. I can skip that. The hard stuff. I'm highly optimistic. I think it's one of the reasons

1:47.0

why Bob and I get along. Optimism, positivity. But I've got people in my life that helped me engage

1:53.6

with some of this deeper stuff. What is going on? How do we make sense of the world that we're in?

1:59.8

And what's to come? How, and really the setup for this conversation? How do we find courage for today

2:05.9

and hope for tomorrow by looking at naming reality? So you get to listen in to two legends,

2:11.8

have a thoughtful, deep conversation about what we've been through and how do we look at everything

2:17.5

differently? How do we look at everything through the lens of what God is doing and what God is
