a work of art. And to add the final flourish, the Queen had her seamstresses stitch Max's

circode that bore his new sicknet, a sword over crossed wands. With this on, you'll be

able to take quite a beating buddy. Max winced a little at the thought. He had only just

finished recovering from his injuries sustained the joust. Having clerics worked their spells

was great for broken bones and landslenders, but there wasn't much they could do for a

body full of aches and bruises.

Well, the King said he had a job for us, so I should get a chance to try it out pretty

soon.

Sooner than you'd like, I imagine, said the King, coming into the chamber. Max and Wallace

both dropped to their knees and placed their fists to their forehead as a sign of respect.

They said in unison.

Stand up the both of you, the King said.
