Anytime the Mavericks have rumors or anything like that, we'll get into the some questions of Mabs need to answer a little bit later. but I want to start with the rumor about Marcus Sasser.

The Mavericks are reportedly connected in a trade with

him with the Detroit Pistons. And so it's a little interesting, see what happens with that.

The official report is Mark Stein said the Merge, the Mavericks have emerged as leading

suitor to acquire Detroit's Marcus Sasser via trade.

Now, the Mavs have a couple of ways that they could do this.

He's making about $5 million and so they could just go and they could trade him.

They could trade a player for him.

They could decide to make something happen in that way.

But I think what Detroit Pistons are kind of stuck in, I talked about this on game night last night on Locked NBA, is that they need to move some salary. They need to make some things happen because they have this whole Jalen Duren situation that is kind of a mess for them. They've got Jalen Duren who wants a certain amount of money, maybe like $50 million, maybe wants the full max because he was an all-NBA player last year. And the Pistons are like, hey, we saw you in the playoffs, man.

We saw what you did? We're not giving you that money. And so they're looking at it say, hey, what if you take 35 million instead of 50 million? And he's like, hey, you know, F off. So he's going to go to another team and make like $44 million. And maybe that team is the Kings. maybe that team is the Lakers, who knows which one they're going to go with.

But all that being said, to do a sign and trade, they need to come off of some money. And so now you're looking at some of the other pieces on their roster. You're saying, all right, well, how other ways could they move off of some guys? Well, Marcus Assertor has been a guy that's been on their roster for a few years. I think this was like his third year. And Spotrack is down, which is hilarious. Spotrack that tracks all the contracts and everything. That website is, we broke Spotrack, everybody. Marcus Sasser broke Spotrack. He is a smaller guard, 6-1, can shoot it a little bit can get to the rim and is a you know a pesky

defensive player wouldn't say he's a great one obviously he's got limitations because of his size

but i think that he would be an interesting go for the mavericks but i think for this he's making

the five million and i think this is more of a money-moving you know situation for the pistons than is like, hey, you just don't believe in the guy. But there is the degree where they don't really, that he has not been utilized to the point where I think a lot of Pistons fans would like. Cuckahill and Locked on Pistons has said that he's been a guy for a while that Pistons fans have been upset with. He specifically said, you know, there's a decent section of Pistons fan base that has been upset for two years, the team that with his many scoring and shooting needs wouldn't let Marcus Sasser have a bigger role. And the Mavericks do have maybe a bigger role for him to do. They need another guard. And to me, I think this is a Brandon Williams, maybe like Ryan Nemhard replacement site player.

I don't think he's coming in and being your starting point guard.

I don't think he's coming in and starting next to Kyrie, obviously.

I think he's a guy that could come in and be a good guard off the bench.

This is what he would bring to the Mavericks.

According to Ku, legit shooter, legit shot creation, tight handle elite at creating separation, incredible touch inside the three point line. And I've said for two years, if he gets a larger role somewhere else, I wouldn't be shocked if he turned out to be Peyton Pritchard 2.0, which is kind of a wild thing to say. But Peyton Pritchard is this guy that has, you know, has this one like weird elite skill where he can get into the paint and finish on like these weird jumpers

inside of 15 feet or so.

And Mabbs could use somebody like that.
