The story of Hugh Glass is going to be a unique one compared to the other stories featured

on the channel, which are typically tirelessly researched for accuracy and compiled through

a variety of sources.

Before we even begin the story of Hugh's life, and in the interest of full transparency, we

have to establish that much of it is unverified and the accounts about him

lie somewhere on the spectrum between fact and fiction. Much of what is known about Hugh has

been passed down through word of mouth, which is obviously prone to exaggerations and incorrect

retellings. In addition, because it's been featured so heavily in popular culture in recent decades,

it's close to impossible to separate the authentic from the inauthentic anymore.

It's probably most well known as the inspiration behind the award-winning movie The Revenant
