If you're a regular listener to KKHI, you know I don't spend a lot of time chasing every single story about either a natural disaster or some sort of weather event that

takes place that a lot of, they call it clickbait on social media or the internet, but on television,

it just dominates coverage in television. Any of these network shows that you see, they love to

lead with anything that's, you know,

too much snow, bad weather, people dying in the heat, unbelievable hurricanes, it could

happen, you know, the week leading up to a hurricane that never really hits landfall, we've all

seen this exaggeration. So I almost always stay away from these stories,

unless something really catches my attention.

And what has happened in Maui is just stunning and shocking to me.

It is a place that I feel sure many of you have been and visited on vacation.

The town of Lahaina, right there by some of the resorts where the basketball tournament

has played every year, the golf tournament has played every year. You've seen many, many times,

and in many cases dreamed of going there. I've only been there once. To me, it was a bucket list

kind of thing to go there, go to Maui, go see all of this. And I will not forget our nights in the

evening going down there and doing a little light shopping and having dinner in Lahaina,

right by the water. It's a beautiful place. It was a charming area. It was not overly commercial

or filled with chains and things like that. It just, it felt right. It felt like you were in a very

unique place on the island of Maui. It was very special to millions of people through the

years that have visited Maui and gone on vacation there. And it is just flat gone. It is gone.
