Matthew West is one of the most recognized voices in Christian music. He is a five-time GRAMMY® nominee, a multiple ASCAP Christian Music Songwriter/Artist of the Year winner and a 2018 Dove Award Songwriter of the Year (Artist) recipient. 

 

His latest album "Brand New" released in February 2020. He has co-hosted the K-LOVE Fan Awards five times and has more than 130 songwriting credits to his name, including cuts by Rascal Flatts, Scotty McCreery, Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, Mandisa, Danny Gokey and others, along with back-to-back No. 1 songs by Casting Crowns including their recent single, “Nobody,” which West is featured.

 

On this episode of the podcast, we talk to Matthew West about "Quarantine Life" and how much he's missing baseball right now. We also talk about the 1998 Chicago sports scene, his new album and Matthew also performs his latest single "Walking Miracles" on today's show.

back in september of 2017 he was on episode number 38 of the sports spectrum podcast and he returns

now and initially we were going to do an interview with matthew or at least i i hoped do an interview with Matthew back in February, back in March, around the time when his new album

came out brand new. It was his seventh studio album. It released right around Valentine's Day in

2020. And of course, we know what happened a few weeks later with the quarantine and the pandemic.

And so Matthew had to pivot because he was getting ready to go on tour and was on tour with casting crowns

and doing some shows. And then all of a sudden, you know, the pandemic happens and he's asked

to go home. And now that's where he's been back in his home in Tennessee since quarantine life began.

And speaking of that quarantine life, he actually wrote a song called Quarantine Life

during this quarantine life that released April 28th.
