That's when it got wheels off. Matthew Millia is the frontman for the band, Frontier Ruckus.

He also has a handful of solo albums that he's made.

He's even released books of poetry.

He lives in the Detroit area and is a champion of Detroit as a city.

And I think as an idea, I don't want to put words in his mouth, but it seems like in his densely lyrical albums, he revels in this misunderstood city that was built and then abandoned by the

auto-complex, auto-industrial complex. He's a really smart dude. He's a really sweet dude.

And his life has taken some interesting turns recently that I think you will be surprised by when we get into this interview.

He and I have a lot of overlap in our personal histories, or not overlap, but maybe echoes. He's almost a full generation behind me, age-wise, but I felt a kinship with him talking to him for the first time.

You know, like so many of these interviews, he's someone I'd never met.

I'd heard his music, thought it was great, and I'm so glad
