When we talk about the offense with Drake, May, and Jacoby Rosset, you have maintained

it's Brissette's situation, and unless Drake May wows you.

What is one thing Drake May could do to wow you?

It doesn't really matter what position we're talking about, honestly.

It's about competition.

If we want to stick on the quarterback side, look, Jacoby has a very good understanding of this offense, but he understands that all of the quarterbacks will have an equal opportunity to go out there and show what they can do. Now, I'm saying that everyone can't get 20 or 30 reps in practice, and I always tell these guys, it's not about the amount of reps, it's what you do with those reps. And look, Drake just has to continue doing what he's doing. He's a very competitive guy. That's why we loved him coming out of Carolina. You know, grew up in a household with, you know, all boys, you know, those guys playing basketball all the time and competing. And look, he'll have his chance. He'll have his opportunity. but at the same time, we're not going to put him out there if he's not ready to go. So, Dr. May, you just sort of answered one of your questions, Mark. They're not going to put him out there if he's not ready to go. Right. I just wanted the culture to be different. You talked about how would the team feel if they put him out there and he wasn't ready? I didn't even want that to be a question. I wanted them to come into camp knowing Drake May was the starter. Everybody understood that. Everybody embraced that and they worked their way towards that. I was hoping for that too. But if the kid can't read a blitz and he doesn't know who the hell's coming and doesn't understand the cadences or whatever it happens to be and his head is just spinning, they can't put them out there. I just don't believe in that. Like, the kids got to go through a process a little bit. I mean, it's going to be his team eventually. You're going to have to put him out there eventually to see what you got. That's going to happen. Why does it have to be week one year one?

That's the exciting thing. Yeah, it's not. I think it's the right thing. Yeah. To both, sorry, Jim, just to both of those, if the coaching isn't good, it won't matter if he played right away or if he sits and plays in a year and a half. If the coaching isn't good, it's not going to matter. he's going to get tricked up.

they didn't, they weren't just handed the job. There was some sort of process or someone got hurt. Justin Herbert played year one, but that's because the starter got stabbed in the chest by a incompetent doctor. Yeah, that's right. But there was just, you know, it's that thing of just being handed that job.

It's like, ah, I wouldn't do it.
