in today. And we're very excited to have Matt Godfrey with us. And so Carly, will you introduce our

guest today? Yes. So Matt Godfrey is a general editor and the managing historian of the Joseph Smith

Papers, which is a huge project. He holds a PhD in American and Public History from Washington State

University and is the author and editor of several books. He's married to Carrie Huber and has four children, and he loves

sports and 80s alternative music. That's right. We'll have to talk about that on another podcast.

was given by Mary J. Wilson in a Relief Society General Conference in 1949. So, Matt, will you just

tell us about Mary J. Wilson? Sure. She's a pretty remarkable woman. I don't think she's someone who is very well known

among the Latter-day Saints. She served on the Relief Society General Board for a period of

almost eight years, I think. But she was someone who I think was very well educated.

She attended Weber College, which is now

Weber State University, studied music and dramatics there. She also served as a student body

vice president while she was at Weber State. But you can tell from this talk that she really is
