are starting to be solved, but there are still a number that remain unresolved. I'm Charlie and

welcome to crime lines. Hello and welcome to this episode of the 12 Days of Crime Lines. This is case number 11.

So we will have one more missing person's case this month. And then in February, we will be back to our usual mix of topics.

This episode came out of a single case recommendation. Kelly suggested the

abduction of Matthew Crocker to me, which is a pretty short case, but then it led me to look

into other missing infant cases, and this episode is the result of that rabbit hole.

According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children,

from 1964 until January of 2025, there have been 345 infant abductions in the United States.

Infant here is being defined as any child under six months old.

Nick Mick does track these cases and they found that 140 babies were taken from

health care facilities, 152 were abducted from the home, and the rest were taken from other

locations like a park.

Of those missing infants, only 16 remain missing as of January 2025. Nick Mick analyzed these cases to help with prevention. I mean, if you

have 140 babies taken from hospitals and medical centers, you can look at what contributed to that.

And now we know why labor and delivery units are secured floors.
