0:00.0	Hey everybody, it's Matt, it's the 10 minute Bible Hour and you don't remember Julius
0:10.0	Caesar, right?
0:11.0	He's maybe top five, top 10 most famous people in history.
0:15.2	There's all kinds of legends, myths and movie and TV portrayals surrounding the guy.
0:18.8	And so it's easy to have it all lumped together a little bit.
0:21.8	But one of the most famousists of all of the Julius Caesar anecdotes is the moment in
0:27.2	49 BC when he took his 13th Legion and crossed the Rubicon River.
0:33.5	I mean, we got a Jeep named after it.
0:35.6	It's such a famous thing.
0:37.2	And in that moment, what happened was that the Senate, which was still the ruling body
0:41.8	in Rome at that point.
0:42.8	A lot of people are like, oh, Julius Caesar, the Roman Empire, those two things did not overlap.
0:47.5	Caesar was not a Roman emperor at any point.
0:49.8	He was a part of the Republic.
0:51.5	And so the Senate was the real source of power there.
0:54.4	At least they thought it turned out that a powerful military leader with a charismatic personality
0:59.4	and a whole bunch of legions under his command.
1:01.4	That was the guy who was actually in charge.
1:03.3	But the Senate, they overestimated their popularity and authority and they thought Caesar
1:09.2	was getting a little uppity.
1:10.4	And so they sent a message to him up north and said, hey, you need to drop all of your titles.
1:17.9	You need to drop all of your legions off.
