Welcome to an on location edition of the Andy Staples show. I'm here with Mitch Sherman, our Nebraska beat writer at the athletic. We are at the coaches convention. It's great to be here. Matt Rule is, there's a wall between us and him, but he's in there with a bunch of other coaches right now.

It's a big meeting, big head coaches meeting. Matt Ruhl brought his entire staff to Charlotte for AFCA this week. And those guys have been working the, working the hallways and working the rooms

and introducing themselves with the new red and polos on. Oh, yeah.

Oh, yeah.

This is a big deal when Nebraska changes coaches.

And I realize that those of you who are not Nebraska fans are probably getting a little bit,

okay, we'll believe it when we see it.

And I think that's fair.

But I also think it's really interesting to check in on where Matt Rule is right

now because obviously very good in his last two stops in college football at Temple and at Baylor.

It didn't work out with Carolina Panthers. But this is his chance to do this at Nebraska

where I feel like the expectations are a little bit different now.

Yeah, this is not 2008, Bo Polini coming in, one coach removed from the great Nebraska legacy that was left by Tom Osborne and then handed to Frank Solich.

So you're now three more coaches removed from that and coming off the worst run that Nebraska's had in this two-decade-long period that's been beneath expectations.
