Welcome to The Naudy but Nice. I'm your host, Rob Shooter, and it is Wednesday, which means our dear friend. Donnie Meacham joins us. Hey, Donnie, are you there? Hello, lo, hello. It is the week after the holidays. Holidays. Did you have a nice holiday? Who did. A friend of mine from high school, actually, was here. Well, that's a long time, though, isn't it? I've known, literally we've known each. Dirty, dirty, dirty. We've known each other for over, I'd say, over 30 years. 50 years. It's fabulous. Yes. Oh, it's nice.

And she celebrated her 40th birthday here.

Oh, but she was escaping her husband.

You know, she's fleeing.

Oh, I like that.

You hold on to your friends.

I do.

I do.

For somebody who is as unreliable as you, Donnie, when it comes to friends, you hold on to them.

Yep.

But you know what? I think it's a nice... I don't mean this, I don't mean this braggadocious or anything. My friends hold on to me. And I think that says something about, and that, like, people don't know nothing wrong with saying that. My friends hold on. I'm a good friend and I will probably say that. Yes. Oh, did I make that all about me?

Well, of course you did.

She's wicked, wicked, wicked weekend. It's jumping to our show. What time is it, my friends, it is? Tea time. Tea times. Matt Lauer, no surprise, wants to come back to media. So People magazine are reporting this. I've been reporting this basically for eight years since the day he left the Today Show.

He misses it.

He wants to come back, but here's the catch.

The media that Matt wants to come back to doesn't exist anymore. Legacy media, it's over. Those days of earning $15 million a year. It is over. They just don't get the viewers. Cable news is in terrible trouble. What is Matt going to do? Is he going to join TikTok? Is he going to get a YouTube channel? He's not going to be Don Lemon. He's not going to be interviewing people in the street. Megan Kelly's doing really, really well, but she's saying very controversial stuff, and that gets her a lot. Matt isn't a controversial person. What he did was very controversial, but he's kind of down the middle. He's kind of like a little bit sort of normal. And I think that that's what in this world we live in with the housewives,

with Megan Kelly, with people screaming at us. I think it's going to be very hard for Matt to find a job.

Several years ago, I was the first one to report that he was in talks with CNN, Jeff Zucker, who used to be the executive producer of the Today Show when Matt was on, took over CNN. So they were friends. They've known each other for 30, 40 years. And so they were talking, but there was no job at CNN. I just don't see where he's going to go. If you think of all the places now where people pop up, let's go over them.
