Welcome to the Bible Study. I'm Stephen Lawson, president of One Passion Ministries.

And each week I will teach verse by verse through the passage of scripture so that you can better understand the word of God

and put it into practice in your life. Join me now as we look together into this

section of the Bible. Let me begin in the word of prayer. We're going to dive right into this. Father, as we now come and

meet in your name and in the name of your son, Jesus Christ. We are mindful that we're opening your word that as we

study what Matthew recorded your Holy Spirit was guiding him and directing him to record

infallibly the truth and the teaching so we pray the Holy Spirit will also be guiding us now today

to understand and to apply your word to our lives. So give us understanding, work within us. We pray this in Christ's

name, amen. Okay guys here we go. So we're in Matthew chapter 5 and verses 14 to 16 and for those of

you who are new to our study. We're going through the sermon on the mouse, the

greatest sermon ever to be preached in the history of the world. It was

preached by Jesus Christ and it is the first recorded sermon that we have of Christ.

And it is obviously stunningly brilliant the way that it's laid out.

We've covered the beatitudes and last time we looked at you are the salt of the earth and

so now we come to you are the light of the world and so I want to begin reading in verse 14

Matthew chapter 5 and the title of this is disciples who shine disciples who shine

disciples who shine, disciples who shine.

You are the light of the world.

A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.

Nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket but on a lamp

stand and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may

see your good works and glorify your father who is in heaven.
